Increasing urbanization requires us to seek out new ways of connecting with nature for the sake of physical and mental well-being. A growing DIY culture, pillared on self-sufficiency and anti-capitalism seeks to make nature-going more accessible to urban dwellers through the use of open-source, low-cost making kits of various recreational tools and appliances such as camp stoves. This paper explores the existence of such DIY projects through content analysis of various online open-source libraries and archives, including the DIY Youtube channel Camping Together. In addition, this paper aims to explore the potential broader applications of such tools to provide benefits for housing insecure individuals and climate migrants.
