why did Brandless fail? was it too literal? its self-declared brandlessness somehow didn't help it feel any less painfully corporate. We don't want to see naked corporations, what's sexy is an undressed brand that's still a brand. THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GENERIC AND PREMIUM GENERIC
really funny/interesting how when you google search "Brandless" the first result is a sponsored link to something called Public Goods (another post-flattening neural-network-generated adorably default brand name!!!) with the tagline "Bummed That Brandless is Gone?" offering itself as the new-and-improved replacement for Brandless. It's the same exact thing (High Quality, No Retail Markup DTC sub service), but clothed in a design language that reads more Glossier than Walmart Generic Brand.
