One quiet morning, Mardi recounts the first half of a parable…
A boy sits on a flat mossy rock, struggling to recall the words of Zeno’s Paradox. And just as the words reach the tip of his tongue, a little snail calls up to him from the rock,
*
*
“excuse me, which way to the water?”
*
*
“It seems you’ve lost your water along the way!” the boy replies, seeing the snail’s trail. “You should retrace your steps…”
*
*
And ignoring the snail’s objections, the boy takes the snail between his two fingers and rolls him lightly back across the surface of the rock, as if rewinding its spiral shell. As the snail starts across the rock, the boy tries to recall Zeno’s Paradox.
