Regarding 'uploading' a consciousness or identity to the digital space. How will we navigate and be okay with a 'second' self existing in digital. What kind of divides and psychological processes would emerge?
"Eclipse Phase has a concept of forking and merging. To summarize, there are alpha forks, which are exact copies of the original, and beta forks, which are neither legally human nor able to change their terminal goals. And there's also the process of merging forks together, which is basically deleting a fork and copying it's memories to another fork.
The original upload is an alpha fork. She could, theoretically, create as many new alpha forks as she wanted, but that's hardly ever necessary, because she could just create beta forks every time she needs to parallelize, and merge with them once they're done. This way the job will be done as well as if the alpha fork was doing it, but without the moral dilemmas that happen when there's more than one alpha fork.
Actually you could probably avoid creating a functional alpha fork altogether. Upload yourself, but use the new alpha fork as a template for the beta forks without running it.
