(part 1), part 2, part 3

To begin to cultivate depth perception of Nature, to gather knowledge directly from plants, go to the plants themselves. Take a walk someplace wild, where the civilized do not go.

Go to the pine
if you want to learn about the pine,
or to the bamboo
if you want to learn about the bamboo. āš˜ Basho

Take a few deep breaths when you arrive, settling yourself down deep in your body. Then begin to walk. And as you walk, become sensitive to the feel of Earth under your feet. Notice how it forces your body to move differently than a sidewalk does, how each tiny perturbation in the non-Euclidean reality of Nature forces upon you a multidimensionality of movement.
